Maureen Bell has published widely on the book trades of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and has taught with the Open University and at the Universities of Nottingham and Birmingham. Her early research focussed on the activities of women as printers, booksellers and publishers and on documentary evidence for the London book trade (A Chronology and Calendar of Documents Telating to the London Book Trade, 1641-1700, with D.F. McKenzie). As Director of the British Book Trade Index (http://bbti.bodleian.ox.ac.uk), she has written on the English provincial book trade and on provincial booksellers, book-owners and readers. She has for many years been an active committee member of Print Networks (http://www.cphc.org.uk/affiliate-print-networks ).
